Big Ant Studios are back with another sports game, this time taking a swing at tennis with AO Tennis.

The game is set to be released in Australia and New Zealand on January 16 next year on PS4 and Xbox One, coinciding with next year’s Australian Open tournament, which starts on the 15th.

A teaser trailer for the game released on the studio’s YouTube page yesterday, shows Rafael Nadal walking out onto Rod Laver Arena, preparing for a match and serving an ace, before celebrating in front of the crowd.

Big Ant’s website promises artificial intelligence with “ten years of ball tracking data”, so that players in the game will react similar to their real-life counterparts.

The game will also feature online play, a career mode where you can play as an established star or create a character and work your way through the rankings.

Men’s world no. 1 Rafael Nadal and former women’s world no. 1 Angelique Kerber have been confirmed as the cover stars of the game. It will be the first licensed tennis game to appear on this generation of consoles.
